My Reason
Personal Mission and Inspiration
My journey toward becoming a Certified Sex Therapist is deeply personal. Imagine being 21, sitting at your apartment, in college, and your mom calls and says, "Hey I am coming down to visit this weekend, okay?" You don't think of anything bad, you're excited to have the company. When she comes, she says "Okay now we are going to call your brother and put them on speaker, I have something to tell you both." Automatically thinking the worst at this point. We call and that's when my mom told us that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She told us that she'd logged onto her patient portal early in the morning and the screen told her test results. Imagine that feeling for a minute. It's not your doctor calling you, it's on your screen.
When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 41, our family faced the emotional and physical challenges that accompany serious illness. During her care at City of Hope Cancer Center in Chicago, one of the most impactful members of her treatment team was a Certified Sex Therapist who helped her navigate the intimate and emotional aspects of healing—areas that are often overlooked in medical treatment.
Witnessing the way that support restored her sense of confidence, connection, and dignity inspired me to dedicate my own career to helping others do the same. Today, through Balance & Bliss Therapy, I help individuals and couples explore sexual health, intimacy, and self-awareness with compassion, education, and clinical expertise.
My mission is to make sexual health a part of whole-person care—helping clients reconnect with themselves and their partners, rebuild confidence after illness or life transitions, and experience emotional and physical well-being as a vital part of healing.
